Trump is scheduled to speak in Mankato at 2:00 and Oshkosh at 4:30. The GOP has a week of travel and political events aimed at blunting the customary polling “bounce” that candidates get during their convention.
The president trails in both public and private surveys less than three months before Election Day. Trump says he doesn't have time not to campaign during the Democratic convention week.
Meanwhile, Wisconsin Democrats marked the start of the convention by blaming Trump for botching the response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Democrats said during an online welcome event Monday that Trump's handling of the pandemic forced them to cancel the in-person gathering that would have brought about 50,000 people to Milwaukee. However, they tried to put a positive spin on the situation, with Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett encouraging those who canceled their travel plans to “come back any time.”
WDIO.com plans to carry live streams of President Trump's Mankato and Oshkosh speeches, as well as a live stream of the Democratic National Convention.
ABC-TV will air live coverage of the Democratic National Convention at 9 p.m. this Monday through Thursday, Aug. 17 to 20, as well as live coverage of the Republican National Convention at 9 p.m. next Monday through Thursday, Aug. 24 to 27.
