Blake Lively Hid From Her Daughters to Share the Parenting Advice She Gave to Gigi Hadid - Glamour

When Gigi Hadid needed parenting advice, she went straight to Blake Lively.

During a recent interview, the new mom revealed she was particularly concerned about protecting her baby Khai's privacy. “I have friends who are public figures and that’s how they’ve gone about it, and I see their kids really blossom in a different way,” she told Vogue. Hadid specifically reached out to Lively and Ryan Reynolds, whom the model met through mutual bestie Taylor Swift

Vogue was able to speak with Lively over the phone to find out what words of wisdom she passed on to Hadid. “I told her you have to do what works for you,” the Gossip Girl actor said. “Gigi has a really special relationship with her fans, and I love how open she is on social media. I love seeing into her world…I’m grateful for what she shares but also understand whatever boundaries she chooses to set.”

My favorite detail about this whole thing, however, is that Lively was forced to share her insights with Vogue from the comfort of her closet, where writer Chloe Mall said "she was hiding from her three daughters.”

I wonder how well that worked. Celebrity parents—including Kim Kardashian and Cardi B—have long tried and failed to carve out moments of solitude for, say, a phone interview, makeup tutorial, or sexy Instagram moment

Anyways, Lively and Reynolds were probably the best possible parents for Hadid to ask about her particular concerns. The famous married couple share three daughters: six-year-old James, four-year-old Inez, and one-year-old Betty. Like Hadid, who waited about six months to reveal the name of her daughter, Lively and Reynolds take their children's privacy very seriously.

In fact, Lively and Reynolds also kept their second daughter's name quiet for a while and famously let Swift unveil their third child's name with the Folklore track “Betty”…a full nine months after the baby was born.

While Lively rarely shares photos of her children, she does keep it real when it comes to motherhood. Earlier this year, she spoke out about her shopping insecurities post-pregnancy. “No one had samples that fit me after giving birth. And so many clothes from stores didn't fit, either. So. Many,” she wrote on Instagram stories on January 30. “It doesn't send a great message to women when their bodies don't fit into what brands have to offer. It's alienating and confusing.”

She continued, "That body gave me a baby. And was producing that baby's entire food supply. What a beautiful miracle. But instead of feeling proud, I felt insecure. Simply because I didn't fit into clothes. How silly is that in retrospect?” Lively ended her post by reminding women to "ask for better from the brands we love.”

Honestly, I think we could all use advice from Blake Lively about all kinds of things. If you're reading this, please call me!
