MILTON, Del.- The Delaware community will be putting on an event next month to support a Cape Henlopen High School student who was injured in a snowboarding accident earlier this year.
Gavin Birl is the son of the owners of Smokin D’z Real Pit BBQ in Milton.
Because of the accident, Gavin needed surgery and is currently paralyzed from his chest down.
To support Gavin through this tough time, the community is hosting the “Gather and Give for Gavin” Fundraiser at Hudson Fields on May 16.
There will be live music, food trucks, a silent action, a petting zoo, yoga, and more.
We are told by a leader in planning this event that the support so far has been unbelievable.
“It’s very self gratifying that it’s even better to know that we live in such a remarkable giving, loving community, that when someone is in need they all come together and work towards that goal to help these people, it’s amazing,” Kyle Shaffer, Sales and Marketing Manager for Revelation Craft Brewing Company, said.
The event will happen from noon to 6 p.m.
Tickets are $10 dollars, kids under 12 are free.
We are told they are still looking for additional sponsors and they are also inviting local vendors to set up and sell their items.
Tickets are available at Revelation Craft Brewing Company, at both branches at Community Bank of Delaware, and at Rise Fitness and Adventure Gym.
Tickets will also be available on the day of the event.
