The CW has announced a couple more cast members for their gritty live-action reboot of The Powerpuff Girls, Powerpuff. It was revealed by Deadline that Robyn Lively will play Sara Bellum, the Mayor’s brain and indispensable member of the show, and Tom Kenny will be reprising his role as the Narrator. That’s interesting. Not that Kenny is reprising his role, that’s awesome. That there’s still a Narrator. I just assumed that the girls would be doing any narration.
Powerpuff follows Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, who used to be America’s pint-sized superheroes. Now they’re disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crimefighting. Will they agree to reunite now that the world needs them more than ever?
Powerpuff’s version of Sara Bellum is described as “a warm and witty career woman who has a complicated romantic history with Drake. Always a friend to the Powerpuff Girls, she has remained close to them since childhood.” Other cast members of Powerpuff include Chloe Bennet as Blossom, Dove Cameron as Bubbles, Yana Perreault as Buttercup, Donald Faison as Professor Drake Utonium, and Nicholas Podanny as Mojo Jojo Jr.
