Pro-life advocates from throughout the region will gather for 90 minutes this Sunday at various locations to take part in the Downriver Life Chain.

To mark the start of October as Respect Life Month, Life Chain prayer groups will line roadways in more than 100 locations throughout Michigan, including more than a dozen locations throughout Downriver, Dearborn and Monroe.

Participants in the Downriver Life Chain will gather from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at locations primarily along Fort Street and Telegraph Road.

The Fort Street locations will be at the intersection of Emmons in Lincoln Park, and at Eureka Road in Southgate and Wyandotte.

Life Chains will be formed along Telegraph Road at Cherry Hill in Dearborn; at North Huron River Drive in Flat Rock; at Wick and North Line roads in Taylor; as well as near the Taylor Sportsplex;  and North Telegraph and Custer Drive in Monroe.

Life Chains also are expected to be present on Dix-Toledo Highway at King Road in Woodhaven; and at Faith Christian Church, at 25201 W. Outer Drive, in Melvindale.

Those participating in the Life Chain describe it as a peaceful and prayerful public witness of pro-life individuals who will stand for 90 minutes to pray for an end to abortion.

After the event, an open house will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Right to Life Resource Center, 2010 Eureka Road, Wyandotte. Participants are requested to bring diapers for a diaper drive.
