Get ready for some serious red carpet magic.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced Thursday that its Met Gala 2022 co-chairs will be Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Regina King and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
The annual style extravaganza will take place on May 2 at the museum, welcoming the hottest faces in the Hollywood and fashion worlds.
Miranda was tapped to be one of the co-hosts for the 2020 gala, which was canceled due to the pandemic, and this will mark his first time attending the glitzy event.
Lively, Reynolds and King have all attended previous Met Galas, with the former rocking some memorable looks on the red carpet over the years, including a lavish burgundy Versace gown and studded headpiece in 2018.
This year’s theme is “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” to coincide with the museum’s exhibition of the same name, so expect celebs to showcase some iconic American designers.
While the 2021 Met Gala was delayed until September due to the ongoing pandemic, it produced no shortage of memorable looks (who could forget Kim Kardashian’s masked gown?).
Just a few months later, we’ll now be treated to another gala, with the event returning to its traditional “first Monday in May” schedule.
For 2022, Tom Ford, Adam Mosseri and Anna Wintour will continue to serve as honorary Met Gala co-chairs, according to the museum.
While fashion fans look forward to seeing the wild creations on the red carpet every year, the gala also serves as the Costume Institute’s primary source of funding in order to operate and produce its fabulous exhibitions and publications.
Speaking of exhibitions, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” will open at the museum on May 7, following “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” which premiered after the September 2021 Met Gala.
The show, running through September 5, “will explore the foundations of American fashion through a series of sartorial displays,” including 100 pieces of American fashion ranging from the 19th through the mid-late 20th century.
A special feature of the second part of the museum’s “In America” series will include fashion freeze frames in each room of the exhibit created by eight leading film directors.
Janicza Bravo, Sofia Coppola, Julie Dash, Tom Ford, Regina King, Martin Scorsese, Autumn de Wilde and Chloé Zhao will create vignettes with their perspectives on American fashion, providing “a nuanced portrait of American fashion and the individuals who defined it during this pivotal period.”
As for us, we’re ready for some pivotal red carpet moments at this year’s gala.
