Nearly a dozen people gathered at Bonsteel Park just north of Sebastian Inlet to dig up the long rope weighing hundreds of pounds.
It was found two months ago, but no one wanted to take on its removal.
There were concerns the rope could harm nesting sea turtles.
Leisa Bee of the Treasure Coast Surfriders recruited the volunteers, who dug a hole some five feet into the sand to get the rope out.
"I started crying. This is just amazing," Bee said. "I am so thankful for everyone, the volunteers today (who) got this done."
The group is hoping someone can use the rope or that it can be recycled.
There's no way to confirm where it came from after washing up.
