Far Caspian stirs up a lively slice of indie with 'Arbitrary Task' - Vanyaland

Here is Massachusetts, we have Caspian. Over across the Atlantic, they have Far Caspian.

The latter swirls up a cool frenzy today with “Arbitrary Task,” a whirling dervish slice of indie rock that serves as the latest ear-catching effort from Irish singer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Joel Johnston. The lively track dropped yesterday (March 1), ahead of sold-out shows this month in New York (March 10 at Baby’s Alright in Brooklyn) and Los Angeles (March 18 and 19 at Moroccan Lounge), as well as a debut five-show appearance at SXSW in between the coastal dates.

“‘Arbitrary Task’ is meant to represent the journey into work and the repetition of it happening everyday,” Johnston says. “I moved into a studio in Leeds to record new music and the daily commute there brought me back to that repetitive feeling of working, and the emptiness we can feel in a job we hate or push ourselves too deep into. I wanted to write something quick and direct to coincide with that frustration.”

Hopefully we’ll catch Far Caspian in Boston soon, we think this town would love him. In the meantime, spin tight circles with “Arbitrary Task” below.
