Homer Edward Lively, 89, passed away peacefully on March 13 at the Norton County Hospital in Norton Kansas.
Ed was born on September 6, 1933, in Golden Lake, Missouri, and graduated high school with the class of 1952 in Perryville, Arkansas.
He then worked for the Telephone company in Arkansas and later went into the Navy and was enlisted from 1953-1957. He then worked as a linemen for the Rock Island Railroad and it was there that he met the love of his life, Roberta. Ed then went on to work as a maintenance worker for the City of Phillipsburg and retired there.
Ed & Roberta were United in marriage on April 18, 1964, in Norton, Ks. To this union, three kids were born; Jacqueline, Edie and Eddie.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Homer John and Lily Lively, brothers Leo and Theo Lively, Brother In laws Arnold Hill and Louis Edging and sister Floy Edging.
He is survived by his wife Roberta Lively (Phillipsburg, Ks)- Daughter Jacque Jerby and husband Rick (Phillipsburg, Ks)- Daughter Edie Lively (Phillipsburg, Ks)- Son Homer Eddie Lively II and his wife Jill (Norton, Ks)- Daughter Joy Lackey and husband Tim (Phillipsburg, KS)- Son Tony Bowen and wife Terry (Killeen, TX)- Sister Barbara Hill (Houston, AR)- half sister Carolyn Spivey (Milledgeville, GA)- Brother in law Tom Tyrrell (Omaha, NE)- Sister in law Ruth Lucidi and husband Ed- (Palm Harbor, FL). 12 Grandkids: Skylar, Kade, Jerrad, Hali, Deric, Alexis, Dakota, Marirae, Hunter, Gavin, Ryan and Anna and 19 Great Grandkids.
89 years of teaching his kids and grandkids his love for fishing, card games, bingo, dominoes, working outside, love for trains, miniature golf and all of his hard work ethics, and many life lessons but most importantly how to love deep and fight hard. For all of those reading this, grandpa would say to “Work hard and be nice.”
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 17, at 10:30 a.m. in the SS Philip and James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg, with Fr. John Schmeidler officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg, with military honors conducted by the United States Navy.
Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel in Phillipsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Norton County Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association.
