ORLANDO, Fla. — Across the country, numerous anti-Trans and Queer bills have been proposed or passed in several states.
In Florida, similar legislation is under consideration at the state capital and it’s drawing debate.

Young protesters in Orlando are calling for more rights. They protested at steps of Orlando City Hall Saturday afternoon.
Caroline Jobes, 17, spent her afternoon protesting. She identifies as non-binary.
“I have an identity called demi-girl which means both she/her and they/them pronouns,” Jobes said.
The Merrit Island teen came out about a year ago.
“So that’s the main reason. I myself am Trans,” Jobes said. “These bills directly affect me and a lot of my friends are transgender. I have two cis-gender friends. That is it. All of my friends are trans.”
That impact from the bills spreads beyond her.
“And so these bills also directly impact them, same with the queer bills because, as the flag shows, I’m pansexual so it’s a lot of things that affect me and my friends directly,” Jobes said.
Like her, more than a hundred people gathered at the Orlando City Hall steps to protest calling for a change.
“Because I am under 18, I currently do not wish to have gender-affirmative surgeries but I do wear a binder, that is what is visible,” Jobes said. “Most of these bills that could possibly be even banned itself. And the newest bill that can have children taken away from their parents if they provide gender-affirming care. That could be my mom for having spent $36 on a piece of clothing.”
All she’s calling for is to be understood as a human being.
“At the end of the day, we have feelings. These bills can make us depressed, anxious, and even some want to kill themselves,” Jobes said. “So think about that next time you tell a transgender person well I'm not going to use your pronouns or you just deny their existence in general.”
The youth group, Liberation Orlando, organized the protest. Between 100 to 200 people attended the rally.
