Woodland School announced Wednesday afternoon healthy students and family members not under quarantine because of the novel coronavirus will be able to enter the building Thursday, Nov. 19, to retrieve their school materials and belongings between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Those retrieving items should enter through either the elementary or high school entrance, proceed directly to their lockers where teachers will have placed students' items and exit the building immediately thereafter. Staff members will be in the hallways to offer assistance.
Families under quarantine can make arrangements to gather items and supplies by calling the school office Thursday or Friday and making an appointment for curbside pickup.
After making it to mid-November with in-person learning, Woodland School announced Tuesday it would be moving to an all-remote education plan beginning Thursday until a for-now scheduled return to in-person learning Monday, Dec. 7.
"Our numbers continue to rise," wrote Woodland Superintendent Ryan McGuckin, "with staff quarantined continuing to be in the double digits, and students being quarantined because of close contacts nearing 50. We have multiple staff and students awaiting COVID tests due to having symptoms associated with the virus.
"This on top of seemingly multiple positive case(s) every day from our staff and student body has led to this decision. ... We just did not feel that by being in person we are protecting all students and staff."
