FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne's NBC) - A group of Fort Wayne men told Fort Wayne's NBC News that they gathered and delivered 600 cases of water to people who are struggling in Texas after last month's winter storm.

Many Texans are still struggling after a winter storm that hit the state in February. Texas state officials said resources have been stretched thin.

"We were needing plumbers a man stretched thin licensed plumbers, let me just say this, because not everybody can do this work so you really need licensed plumbers, and then, and then there's a shortage of materials and supplies," said Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.

President Joe Biden visited Texas and announced that help is on the way.

"We will be true partners to help you recover and rebuild from the storm," President Biden said.

With the help of the Fort Wayne community, a group of Fort Wayne men told Fort Wayne's NBC News that they were able to gather 600 cases of bottled water.

Several of them packed two vehicles filled with the cases and drove down to Texas on Friday to help Texans who need the help.

The men who helped with this effort include Kyle Squier, Roderick Parker, Jamison Chapman, and Derek Taylor.

"If I can be of help especially in situations where you have numerous people who are struggling and suffering due to situations they don't have any control over," said Roderick Parker.

Fort Wayne's NBC News talked with Jamison Chapman who also helped with the efforts. He said it's important to help other Americans who are struggling, especially if you have the time and resources.

"We all are human beings," Chapman said. "You should treat other people how you want to be treated."

Fort Wayne's NBC News caught up with Texas pastor Susan Stephens on Zoom. She said the group of men gave her water in Texas, and she is very grateful for the support. She said it gave many Texans a sign of hope.

"I was so elated. I was so thankful. I was blown away. I said listen, can I pray for you? That God will open up doors for you," said Stephens.

The group of Fort Wayne men traveled back to Fort Wayne and are expected to arrive back home early Tuesday morning.
