Dark Horse Entertainment, a division of Dark Horse Comics, is moving forward on a Lady Killer adaptation for Netflix. Blake Lively and Diablo Cody will adapt the series to film. Here are the details so far.
What to Know about Lady Killer, a Comic Book Series By Joëlle Jones and Jamie S. Rich

Lady Killer, a miniseries, ran from 2015 to 2017. Jones, whom you might know for her Batman and Catwoman work, cowrote the series with Rich. (Rich, who’s worked primarily as an editor, has also written graphic novels like 12 Reasons Why I Love Her.) Jones also illustrated the entire series, as well as wrote the follow-up to the original series run. (You can buy the whole thing here, or just start with the first one.)
The series follows the “Lady Killer” herself, Josie Schuller. A 50s housewife, Josie also works as an assassin for an organized crime group. Over the course of the series, Josie has to learn how to balance her happy home life with her secret, deadly job.
Blake Lively and Diablo Cody Will Handle the Adaptation for Netflix

Diablo Cody will be writing the adaptation. Cody is currently cowriting a Madonna biopic with one Madonna Louise Ciccone. Her last film before that was 2018’s Tully. And she’s writing the live-action Powerpuff Girls, one of the newer CW pilots we can expect.
As for Blake Lively, according to my records, she has the misfortune of first appearing on this site in an image in my Armie Hammer Explainer. Bless her heart. Anyway, she’ll be producing the film, as well as starring in it. And while some outlets have compared her role in the 2020 action film The Rhythm Section to this upcoming role, mmm, I don’t know.
If I had to pick an analogue from her past roles, then I’d pick Emily Nelson from A Simple Favor, who had a few secrets of her own. (Also, I haven’t seen The Rhythm Section yet, mainly because its title confounds me.) In non-Lively projects, I think of the film Serial Mom and this year’s book Finlay Donovan Is Killing It. And I liked ’em both, so I’m looking forward to this.
