PEKIN (Heart of Illinois ABC) -- For the 26th year, hundreds of golfers gathered at Lick Creek Golf Course Saturday for a special memorial tournament.
The Brad Campbell Memorial Golf Outing takes place every Labor Day weekend and honors a Pekin native who passed away at just 23 years old.
In Brad's memory, friends and family hit the green and raised money for a variety of children's charities.
"Brad was a very outgoing person - always had a smile on his face … Very athletic. He played sports in high school. And his teammates - Brad was the person that they went to," said Brad's older brother, John - one of the tournament organizers.
John said the tournament has grown bigger and bigger every year, and over two decades, they have raised $360,000 in Brad's name.
John hoped they could break the $400,000 mark with Saturday's event.
