The new reports claim that Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively will potentially replace Amber Heard as Mera in the upcoming Aquaman sequel. The rumor swirled through the Internet after a new concept art of Mera surfaced online, in which Lively transforms into Mera.
An Instagram user named @spdrmnkyxxiii shared the concept/fan art of 32-years-old actress as the princess of Xebel. The fan art looked so amazing that the actress was born to play the role. If someone could perfect the role of Mera as Heard did in the previous film, Lively might be the ideal option. Green Lantern actress isn’t the only one who has been linked to play the queen of Atlantis. Game of Thrones alumn, Emilia Clarke was previously considered for playing Mera in the upcoming sequel.
Emilia Clarke and Jason Momoa’s previously appeared together in Game of Thrones and their chemistry was splendid. There is an immense amount of support behind Clarke playing Mera from the fans.
Amber Heard might not be around to play Mera in the upcoming sequel of Aquaman due to her legal battles with former husband, Johnny Depp. The actress initially accused Pirates of the Caribbean actor of perpetrating domestic violence, but later it was revealed the actress actually abused Depp. Johnny Depp filed a USD$ 50 million defamation lawsuit against the actress for her false accusations and a ridiculous op-ed in the Washington Post.
The audio-tapes produced by Johnny Depp clearly suggests that Heard was the one who perpetrated domestic violence. The 34-year-old actress might be jailed for at least a year if the court finds her guilty for manipulating and falsifying evidence. The DC and Aquaman fandom was upset with her behavior and now demands Warner Bros. fire her from the role of Mera. Fans have started online campaigns and petitions asking the production company to remove Amber Heard from the role.
Warner Bros. hasn’t announced the fate of Amber Heard as of now, but the online petition asking her to remove from the cast has already amassed more than 400,000 signatures.
