BATAVIA – Water Street Studios in Batavia will open an exhibition by three artists on Friday, Oct. 9, with events planned on opening day and on Friday, Oct. 30. The artists are Darius Hurley, Anke Korioth and Diane Sanborn.

Artwork by Anke Korioth features vibrant colors, varied depths and striking lines. Her abstract impressionistic paintings integrate chaos, connection to her travels around the world and her European roots. Her works will hang In the Dempsey Family Gallery through November. Her artwork can be found in many private and corporate collections in the U.S., Europe and China.

Local artist Darius Hurley will be featured in the upstairs Chicago Capital Gallery through Oct. 31. "Portraits and Punchers" will feature new painted works, a short retrospective of earlier paintings and some surprises. His paintings have been shown in galleries in Chicago, London and New York.

Diane Sanborn is a contemporary American abstract artist. Her work references back to expressionism and surrealism, using symbols, vibrant colors, shape and line. She has been nationally recognized and shown across the country. See her collection through November in the Dempsey Family Gallery. Visitors can view the works during the special exhibit events or during public hours from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday at 160 S.
