Hundreds gathered in Yonkers Wednesday to pay tribute to four young men who were killed when a reckless driver slammed into their car the night before.
Mourners flooded Riverdale Avenue near Culver Street where the Tuesday night crash took place, and released white balloons into the air in memory of Brandon Sierra, Randy Brisbane, Tamari Watkins, and Anthony Cruz.
Others placed flowers and candles while heartbroken family and friends cried in anguish.
“My baby, my baby! My baby’s gone! My son! Randy!” cried Brisbane’s mother. “My baby is gone! I just want to be with my baby!”
The four 18-year-old men were in a silver 2006 Nissan sedan driving down Riverdale Avenue when Devon Haywood slammed into the car, splitting it in half and killing them at the scene, Yonkers police said.
Haywood, 36, had been driving erratically and was being chased by cops. He died at a local hospital from his injuries.
The friends recently graduated from Saunders Trades and Technical High School and were described by loved ones as funny and sweet.
“Randy when he sees me mad he wouldn’t leave until I was smiling,” former Saunders classmate, Dejanee Ross, 20, told the Post. “He was a goofball. He didn’t want to see anyone mad, he wanted everyone happy all the time.”
Ivelisse Mendez, 21, Cruz’s relative, remembered Cruz as a “bright kid” who had a future ahead of him.
“It’s very sad,” Mendez said. “We spoke to the family earlier today. [They] were very devastated.”
“I know TJ [Tamari] and Brandon, they was nice and funny. Real funny,” friend Ramiyah Carter, 15, said. “They were sweet and friendly.”
