I have heard from many residents in Egmont who are so pleased to see the return of the Journal Pioneer.
As a lifelong reader, I am accustomed to the Journal's record of reliable reporting on affairs that matter to our local communities. In my household, the Journal has always been part of our lives - and has informed many lively discussions around the kitchen table.
While there may be new media options in the modern world, we all know that credible local sources are the best. Certainly, most readers I have spoken to are confident that the news reported in the Journal Pioneer is serious, fair, timely – and often very entertaining.
As the Member of Parliament for Egmont, I know the Journal serves a vital role in public engagement. Islanders are deeply committed to participating in public affairs – which is revealed by our high voter turnouts. In my opinion, this tradition is partly due to the diligence of organizations like the Journal Pioneer – which helps to keep our community discussions fresh and relevant.
Again, I want to congratulate the Journal Pioneer on its return. Your presence was missed, and I am very happy to see this strong, local voice return to Egmont.

MP for Egmont
