Mini review: Bonnie Raitt lively at the Palace - Times Union

kuangkunang.blogspot.com

When: 8 p.m. Friday

Where: Palace Theatre, 19 Clinton Ave., Albany

A lively Bonnie Raitt killed it at a sold-out Palace Theatre. The blues-rock icon drew heavily on from her forthcoming LP and if the performances of are any indicator, that should be fantastic. Title track “Just Like That” was a gorgeous acoustic ballad, while a song written for the late Jamaican singer Toots Hibbert was funky and fun. The biggest hits were “Something to Talk About,” “Back Around” (a first-ever live take, no-less) and a heartfelt cover of John Prine’s “Angel from Montgomery.” The cover of INXS’ “Need You Tonight” was very cool, almost as cool as Raitt was all night.

What’s next: Joan Jett and the Blackhearts grace the stage, bad reputation and all, on Saturday night. The cut-ups from the Canadian sitcom “Letterkenny” will be in town Sunday. On April 30, country singer Jake Owens will be doing his thing. See who else is performing in the Capital Region.
