SALISBURY, Md. – From the kitchen, to the hands of locals, the Cathedral of Love celebrated over a decade of serving fresh turkey, green beans and other Thanksgiving favorites, to the community.
Pastor Craig Wilson said the mission is to cook for those in need, and let them know even through rough times, the church’s doors are always open.
“We never know who’s in need, and it’s always important to make sure the community knows that we’re here for them,” Pastor Craig said.
After feeling like he lost everything, Michael Melvin found solace in sharing conversations of his housing journey with volunteers, and enjoy a warm meal– thankful for the connections he’s made through the church.
“My brothers and sisters passed away, and my cousin just passed away a couple months ago. I don’t have nobody left,” Melvin said. “It feels great to have somebody, you know?”
Adding another event to the books, Pastor Craig said he’s grateful volunteers came together, to show thankfulness on the holiday, and serve their community.
“They could be home with their families, and they have other things to do, so for them to make it out, that means the world to us and we’re so appreciative of it,” Pastor Craig said.
