Back to full strength in the line up with Parejo and Gerrard Moreno fully fit. Villarreal earned their first away win with a 3-1 victory over Getafe
Villarreal were the more attacking side clearly hyped after their 4-0 victory against Tel-Aviv fc in the Europa League.
2 minutes in Gerrard Moreno had the first chance of the match. From a pass from Mario Gaspar Moreno unleashed a left footed shot which block.
The first goal came from a beautiful play by the Yellow Submarine. Dani Parejo with an exquisite overhead pass found Mario Gaspar on the right side. The captain curled in a ball which Alcacer chested down and slotted between Getafe keeper’s legs.
16 minutes in Getafe responded in style. The ball was clear by Albiol only to find Arambarri. The Uruguayan unleashed a stunning right footed shot from outside the box to find the top left corner. There was nothing the Villarreal could do apart from looking on in admiration.
A minute later Villarreal responded in a beautiful scrappy way. Pedraza sprinted down the left with a through ball via Alcacer found Moi Gomez. Gomez played a slick left footed pass to find a waiting Manu Trigueos who scraped the ball across the line.
Villarreal ended the first half the stronger side and 2-1 to good ending a lively first encounter.
Getafe came out looking for blood when the game took on a physical performance. 55 minutes in Alcacer found himself free on the wing. Cutting the pass back to Moi Gomez the ball flew just over the goal.
Alcacer continued to impress throughout the Match. Emery has clearly been working on his team contribution rather than him being just a goal threat. 61 minutes in Villarreal were 2 on 1 with Alcacer through on goal. He selflessly played the ball across the box. Gerrard Moreno unleashed a right footed thunderbolt into the back of the net.
The final 20 minutes the game evened off. Tackles flew in from a physically frustrated Getafe. Parejo was brought down in the 70 minute. He was then subbed in 73rd minute in hopefully only a precaution.
Villarreal earned a 3-1 victory against Getafe to go top of La Liga. Villarreal will be hoping this winning run will continue in the next match against Real Madrid after the International Break.
