FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - Supporters of a man facing deportation after his arrest at a downtown Fort Wayne protest will gather at the Allen County Courthouse to celebrate his release on bond and to update the media on his status.

The groups "Faith in Indiana" and "Faith in Allen County" have been advocating on behalf of Jorge Oliva, 26, since he was taken into federal custody last month.

Oliva was arrested on misdemeanor charges in mid-June, leading to involvement by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) because Oliva does not have legal resident status.

He arrived in the United States from Mexico as a child about 20 years ago.

Oliva has been granted a stay of deportation but faces legal hurdles if he is to stay in the country.

Family members are expected to be a part of Thursday's gathering, which is set to happen at 1:30 p.m.
