The Baltimore County Department of Public Works and Transportation will seek public input on the final draft of Baltimore County’s Transit Development Plan, released today.
The department will host a virtual meeting to gather input from community members on Nov. 30 at 6:00 p.m.
The development plan assesses current transit services and provides recommendations to improve transit in the county over the next five years.
“Expanding access to easy, efficient, reliable transit is an essential element in our vision for a better Baltimore County,” Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski Jr. said in a statement.
“We are so proud of our unprecedented efforts to build a stronger local transit system and look forward to finalizing this plan which help guide our efforts in the years ahead,” he said.
The plan was funded by the Maryland Department of Transportation and developed in partnership with Maryland-based transit consultant KFH Group.
The draft report lays out a number of short-term, medium-term, and long-term improvements.
Short-term improvements include expanding CountyRide service hours and piloting an on-demand microtransit service in Owings Mills.
The plan also provides medium-term changes such as the creation of crosstown microtransit bus routes in Dundalk, Essex, and Middle River.
Long-term changes include expanding The Loop service and crosstown bus routes to create a countywide microtransit network.
The Towson Loop, a free-to-ride circulator bus, began service in October.
