GRAND FORKS — During its 15 years in Grand Forks, the Texas Roadhouse has become one of the most lively restaurants. It is busy with takeout orders as well as inside seating.

And it has a large parking area as well as a convenient place to do drive up and pick up orders.

On cold winter days, the favorite orders are for steak and ribs, according to Molly Lindom, manager. Seating is interesting with a choice of booths and tables around the large restaurant. And there are windows all around.

With a granddaughter, ALS — Anne L. Sandstrom — I settled into a table around noon on a bitterly cold day this past week. We looked around and saw people scattered here and there in booths. We found a table in the lounge area. There were people scattered around the large restaurant. There was music. We agreed it seemed good and the place was alive and cheery.

The menu also is lively. It includes fried pickles and rattlesnake bites among its starters. There are salads with dressings made from scratch. There are hand cut steaks. The menu includes chicken specialties and country dinners, including grilled pork chops and country fried sirloin. Grilled salmon is listed among the dockside favorites.

The complete menu includes burgers and sandwiches along with “kids and rangers” meals. And there is a listing of Early Dine meals featuring 11 entrees.

On my visits to the Texas Roadhouse, I especially enjoy the center lounge area. It seems like the heart of the action. Many people have their favorite area of booth seating in the restaurant that is one of the city’s largest. The booths are large and comfortable all around the perimeter of the restaurant. On cold winters days, however, it seems many customers prefer take home orders.

There is a listing of desserts featured on the menu include Granny’s Apple Classic, Strawberry Cheesecake and a Big Ol’ Brownie.

The restaurant seems to have something for everyone and has become a popular place for takeout along with eating in. On my visits to the Texas Roadhouse, I enjoy the lounge area. Sometimes it is preferable to visit while sitting in a booth. They provide a place of privacy. The restaurant employees have a cheery outlook. On our visit this week, there were people near the door at a table selling Girl Scout cookies.
