CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Every other Monday, Graze and Gather picks up some of their wholesale supplies from Denver. Last weekend, a family trip to complete the pick-up left the business closed for an extra day.

“We had a lot of plans with family, and going to find new product, and try new wholesale places, and it just delayed things a little bit,” said Graze and Gather Owner Kelly Barnes.

The family arrived at their hotel in Cherry Creek around 9 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29. On Sunday morning, they were told by hotel staff that their car had been broken into.

“They tried to smash one window, it was pretty cracked and they smashed out another one... There was a few things stolen, nothing valuable, and nobody was hurt, just the vehicle,” said Barnes.

The family-operated business announced on social media that they would not make it back to Casper in time to open as usual on Tuesday. Barnes says the hotel staff was extremely helpful, even though they couldn’t get the windows fixed on Monday.

Customers were more worried about the family’s safety than they were about the business being closed.

“I was very worried about a negative kind of lash back but the customers were amazing. We got so many private messages just asking is everyone safe, was everyone okay. It was very heartwarming and amazing for them to think of us and not just ‘you’re not open for business’,” said Barnes.

The family made it back to Casper Tuesday night, and opened for business Wednesday, Feb. 2. They have been surprised by the outpouring of support they have received from customers.

“This week has been kinda crazy we actually had customers bring us, we had a customer bring us a present yesterday, we had another one of our customers bring us a cheesecake to welcome us back, so just genuine loving support from our clientele, for sure,” said Barnes.

Graze and Gather is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. They are located at 1720 S. Poplar Street Suite 4.
