Blake Lively fans will have to wait a little bit longer to see the actress return to the silver screen.
The film adaption of Colleen Hoover's It Ends With Us, starring Lively in the role of Lily Bloom, will be hitting theaters on June 21, PEOPLE confirms. The film was initially slated to be released on Feb. 9.
The Gossip Girl alum also served as an executive producer on the film, which costar Justin Baldoni directed. While the Jane the Virgin alum and his production company, Wayfarer Studios, optioned the book in 2019, cast announcements weren't confirmed until January 2023.
Baldoni plays Ryle Kincaid, with whom Lively's character falls in love. Jenny Slate plays his sister, and Brandon Sklenar plays Bloom's first love, Atlas Corrigan, who unexpectedly returns to her life.
"Lily Bloom thinks she's found the love of her life in Ryle Kincaid. However, after a troubling incident of abuse reminds her of her dark past, she must decide if love alone can carry her marriage through. Further complicating things is the return of her first love into her life: a man who she took in many years prior when he was homeless," a film synopsis reads.
"I think that Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively have what it takes to bring these characters to life, and I cannot wait for you guys to see that happen," said Hoover in a January 2023 Instagram video while speaking about her novel's film adaption. "I'm so excited, y'all. I can't even wrap my mind around this."
Hoover addressed the age discrepancies between her romance novel's characters and the real-life actors who played them at her Book Bonanza festival in June.
"Back when I wrote It Ends With Us, the new adult (genre) was very popular. You were writing college-age characters. That's what I was contracted to do. I made Lily very young. I didn't now that neurosurgeons went to school for 50 years. There's not a 20-something neurosurgeon," she said, according to Today.

"As I started making this movie, I'm like, we need to age them out because I messed up. So that's my fault," she added, per the news outlet.
