FRAMINGHAM – The City of Framingham is a hot spot for the coronavirus in the Commonealth of Massachusetts, and the Governor has a message for the City and the seven other high-risk or “red” communities.
“All residents in those communities really ought to stay home if they feel sick and they really do need to get tested, if they go out. No one can afford to gather in large groups in these communities,” Gov. Baker said.
“This is critically important, time and time again, as our contact tracers have reached out to and engaged people who’ve become infected, gatherings — unsupervised, unofficial, people being familiar with people they’re familiar with — play a major role in the spread of COVID,” said the Governor at a press conference on Thursday.
During that press conference, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts offered supports for the top 5 communities in the state with the highest rate of infection for COVID -19.
Framingham, the community with the 6th highest rate of infection, was not on the list.
Framingham is in the top 12 for the number of coronavirus cases in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, with more than 2,000.
The City of Framingham with the 6th highest rate of infection for the virus over the last 14 days, at a rate of 10.9 ncases per day and a positive testing rate of almost 3.5%.
The state as a whole falls into the moderate risk “yellow” category, with an average daily incidence rate of 4.2 cases per day per 100,000 residents.
