The "Reopen Oregon" rally was expected to kick off at noon, and the rainy weather was no deterrent for hundreds of demonstrators, some wearing masks, but most not maintaining the 6 feet of distance recommended by state officials. A few protesters were observed openly carrying weapons.

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown and public health authorities say the stay-at-home order currently in effect is necessary to slow the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus that has sickened thousands and killed over a hundred Oregonians so far.
