Coney Island is closing its doors for good at the end of the week.This has many community members reminiscing on time spent there.We spoke with one local family who has been going to Coney Island for generations.Grandmother Theresa Crouch and her twin grandsons, Tristan and Noah, will be seeing the light show for the last time this week – it’s bittersweet.“It was just one of our favorite places growing up here,” says 9-year-old Tristan Crouch.He and his brother recalled memories at the pool and riding the rides at Coney Island, before they shut down.“It's just going to be sad, just seeing it going away,” says Tristan.Dead Low Restaurant and Brewery is right down the road from Coney Island. Chief Operating Officer there, Kyle Havens, says Coney Island has shaped this place in many ways.When he heard it was shutting down, he found a way to keep a piece of Coney Island's history alive.A few years back, after the rides closed, Coney Island sold some of its historic photos. Now, a couple of the iconic images can be seen on Dead Low’s walls.“They’re scattered around the brewery and, you know, help us tell our story as much as theirs,” says Havens.The iconic site's history and the memories made there, now forever preserved in the hearts of those who loved it most.
