Bellefonte (Pa.) Westtown School 5-star center Dereck Lively II is down to seven schools.
Lively named a top seven consisting of Duke, Florida State, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, Penn State, and USC Thursday.
The agile 7-footer has become one of the hottest prospects in the country this spring and summer, working his way up to 20th overall in the 2022 class according to the industry average 247Sports Composite. Due for a huge bump in the next update, Lively is currently ranked No. 42 overall by 247Sports.
This month, Lively has taken official visits to North Carolina, and Kentucky, where he picked up a scholarship offer from the Wildcats, and is scheduled to see Duke at the end of the month. He also took an unofficial visit to Penn State.
Lively has been a standout performer on the Nike EYBL's Team Final playing alongside Emoni Bates and Jalen Duren, who are ranked Nos. 1 and 2 overall in the 2022 class, and was among the all-stars at the prestigious Pangos All-American Camp in Las Vegas earlier this month.
"A long, lean, fluid and athletic big, Lively’s ability to run the floor, play way above the rim, swat shots and potentially stretch defenses as a jump shooter was quite impressive," wrote 247Sports Director of Recruiting Eric Bossi. "He’ll need to add some strength to his lean frame, but man does he have some serious upside when comparing him to some others in the class long term. Currently ranked No. 42 by 247Sports, Lively is a lock to make a move to five-star status during the next ranking update and it is just a question of how he could move. A push for the national top 15, maybe even top 10 isn’t out of the question."
Lively told 247Sports he plans to take another round of official visits in the fall prior to making his college decision.

He has terrific athleticism for his size as he elevates off the floor well and is aggressive in how he utilizes his springs to protect the rim and control the glass on a consistent basis. One factor that truly stands out to scouts at the highest of levels is his commitment to being a center and playing as such. He values rebounding, sprinting the floor, and keeping his motor running in a high gear. He is dangerous in the screen and roll game and gives across Tyson Chandler vibes due to his length and productivity in the shot blocking and rebounding categories.
