One of the highest risers in the class of 2022, Dereck Lively drew a huge crowd as he recently narrowed down his college list to seven. Along with the massive crowd, Kentucky head coach John Calipari, and Penn State’s head coach Micah Shrewsberry were sitting courtside to see their priority target along with Michigan's assistant coach Phil Martelli. Lively will also be considering Florida State, Duke, UNC, and USC and has already taken visits to Penn State, Kentucky, Duke, and UNC. As of now Lively looks to potentially narrow his list to five towards the beginning of the school year or the fall and try to make a winter decision.

As of now Lively plans on taking visits to Michigan, FSU, USC, and Penn State and potentially back to one of the blue bloods in the fall.

Lively broke down his visits to Kentucky and Duke along with some other schools involved with 247Sports.

Kentucky: “Kentucky was a great visit. We mainly just talked about being a pro. How to go there to be a pro, refine your fame and start from an early age so you can be prepared for the NBA.”

“Everything there just blew my mind, even just being around the team and coaching staff, being around all that talent and coaching staff was amazing.”

“I was able to play with them. It felt great. I fit in perfectly and I feel like that's a place I can see myself in. Coach Cal is coming tonight so I’m going to be able to show off infront of him.”

Duke: “It was a great visit. It was everything I was looking for. It was a family environment and they really just showed me how they help develop you for the pros. Just between those two schools it was amazing, the facilities, the coaching staff, and I loved the players too. It's definitely going to be a hard decision because all three of the schools that I’m really looking at that I visited so far have been great fits for me and it will be a hard decision.”

Florida State: “It’s going great, the connection is still there between me and my teammates and the whole coaching staff so there's still a lot of recruitment there and it's something I will visit potentially in the fall.”

“They really compared me to Jonathan Issac and told me how I can expand my game to a guard and step out to the perimeter and it’s something I can see myself at.”

Penn State: “Hometown hero, it was something I’ve been thinking about and really enjoying. I've been talking to Penn State consistently and really just building bonds and relationships with the coaching staff. Their main message has been showing me what I can do and how they can progress me. He used to coach Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown so he has the development piece for young players so that's something I will look at.”

USC: “It's nice to think how I can fill in the Evan Mobley spot and really play outside the perimeter and expand the game outside the paint. Their message has been ‘you come here we can help turn your game from a big to a guard’ and really being able to stay low and keep your head straight.”

With Peach Jam fastly approaching, Lively's main goal is to showcase his versatility while having fun and winning games.
