Jennifer Lawrence Lost This Major TV Role To Blake Lively - TheThings

kuangkunang.blogspot.com

Jennifer Lawrence is an incredibly talented actress who has already found a tremendous amount of success in her career. Lawrence has starred in the Hunger Games and X-Men franchises, and she has delivered critically-acclaimed performances that have established her as an Oscar regular.

Even though Lawrence can seemingly do it all while the cameras are rolling, the actress has missed out on some major roles. Earlier in her career, in fact, the actress was determined to land a role on a hit television show, but none other than Blake Lively would beat her out for it.

Let’s take a closer look at Jennifer Lawrence and the role she lost out on.

Lawrence Is An Oscar Winner

Jennifer Lawrence has been acting on the big small screen for years now, and at this point, she is one of the most established performers in all of Hollywood. Not only has she anchored two massive franchises on the big screen, including the Hunger Games franchise, but she has also won an Academy Award for her critically-acclaimed work.

An early break for Lawrence’s career happened back in 2007 when she was cast as a lead performer on The Bill Engvall Show, which lasted for a couple of seasons. She would star on that show alongside future Santa Clarita Diet star, Skyler Gisondo, and she used the show as a launching point for her career. The show’s end led to Lawrence chasing her dreams on the big screen.

After putting in several years worth of work in film, Lawrence had a big break when she was cast as Mystique in X-Men: First Class and became a mainstay in the franchise for the next 8 years. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, the following year, she was cast as Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games franchise, propelling those films to massive success at the box office, as well. As great as these franchises were for her career, Lawrence was delivering excellent work in other flicks.

During her exceptional career, Jennifer Lawrence has been nominated for a total of four Academy Awards, eventually taking home Best Actress for her performance in 2012’s Silver Linings Playbook. Her most recent Oscar nomination was for Best Actress for her performance in the film Joy.

Things have been coming up aces for Lawrence during her career, but even she has missed out on a few big opportunities.

She Has Missed Out On A Few Roles

One thing that remains true in Hollywood is that even the biggest stars lose out on opportunities to star in huge movies and television shows. Whether they outright pass on the role or are clearly beaten out by another star, it is simply impossible for an A-list performer to get every role that they want. Lawrence has been successful, but even she has lost out on a billion-dollar film.

According to Lawrence, “The one thing that really killed me, like the only time I’ve ever been truly devastated by losing an audition―’cause most of the time you’re like, ‘Ah, wasn’t meant to be, move on, what can you do?’―was Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. That one devastated me.”

“I couldn’t have had a British accent,” she continued.

Alice in Wonderland was a huge opportunity on the big screen for the star, but Wasikowska wound up being excellent in the role. On the small screen, Lawrence missed out on a huge opportunity earlier on in her career.

Blake Lively Got Serena Van Der Woodsen On ‘Gossip Girl’

At one point, Jennifer Lawrence was in contention for the role of Serena on Gossip Girl. Ultimately, she would face some stiff competition and lose out on the role to none other than Blake Lively, who became a household name thanks to her performance on the series each week.

Series creator, Josh Schwartz, said, “We did not realize this at the time, but Jennifer Lawrence really wanted to play Serena and auditioned. This story came to us secondhand, but we were told she definitely auditioned and was bummed to not get it. We can’t remember if we saw it or not. It was ten years ago, and she would’ve been how old, 15?”
