Local veterans gather to wish America “Happy Birthday” - WJHG-TV

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Those who served and fought for our freedoms, which we celebrate on July 4th, gathered Sunday afternoon for a Happy Birthday U.S.A celebration.

The VFW Post and American Legion were took a special moment to reflect on what this day means to them.

While Independence Day is a special day for everyone, VFW Post 10555 Commander Mary Lemburg says it seems to be more special for when she spends it with other veterans.

”In a room with fellow veterans it is even more special because we all realized that we fought for the freedom that today is all about,” Lemburg said.

And Panama City Beach Police Chief J.R. Talamantez was also there to give a special speech about the 4th of July.
