One of the fastest-rising prospects in high school basketball will take an official visit to Lexington later this month.
2022 five-star center Dereck Lively II tells KSR that he has scheduled a trip to Kentucky from June 20-22, his third scheduled visit since in-person recruiting returned this month. The 7-foot-1 center also has trips to North Carolina and Duke scheduled for June 8 and June 29, respectively.

Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers.com was the first to break the news.
A true 7-footer with great defensive instincts, ridiculous length, runs the floor like a gazelle, and jumps out the gym, Lively recently made the jump all the way up to No. 14 overall and No. 2 at his position in Rivals’ latest recruiting rankings. ESPN also has him listed at No. 24 overall, while 247Sports still has him ranked No. 42 overall.
The five-star prospect told KSR back in April that he models his game after Anthony Davis and sees the former Kentucky star as his “role model.”
“Kentucky is going great with the recruitment. I talk with them almost every week,” Lively told KSR at the time. “If I go there, they could show me how to play more like Anthony Davis, because Anthony Davis is my role model. He can get to the rim, he can step behind the three, he can block shots, he can guard a guard, he’s an overall great big man.”
An offer is not yet on the table, but one is expected in the near future, as Kentucky has zeroed in on Lively as one of the program’s top frontcourt options in the rising senior class.
“They always say to me ‘Be patient, because this is a long process’ but they have a lot of interest in me right now,” Lively added. “(The coaches) said I’d fit in perfectly. They know what to do with people like me and to just move outside the three and all, and still being able to get inside and work in the paint.
“… I’ve been trying to show that I’m more than just a normal big man. Trying to go outside the three-point line, dribble the ball, and even shoot it. Trying to be more guard-like for the new NBA game. It’s been a process through our quarantine, I’ve definitely come a long way. Before I would dribble off my foot, now I can go anywhere. I can go outside the three, I’m rotating, I’m on the perimeter. It’s going good so far. Building it up as we go.”
