Legal recreational marijuana sales start

Marvin Washington, former NFL player, celebrates after his purchase at The Botanist in Williamstown during the first day of legal recreational sales of cannabis in New Jersey, Thursday, April 21, 2022. Tim Hawk | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com

At the business-to-business and business-to-consumer trade show Friday and Saturday in Elizabeth, Athletes in Cannabis organizers aim to connect former ball players, medical professionals, capital companies and members of many other industries to network and share information about cannabis.

For you Jets fans, Bobby “BoJack” Jackson and Reginald “Reggie” Grant as well as recent Super Bowl champ Dominique Easley, formerly of the Patriots, are among the featured speakers. These and other professional athletes have launched their own cannabis businesses after retiring from sports. Josh Bauchner, a well known cannabis attorney, will be the keynote speaker. Bauchner, of Ansell Grimm & Aaron, represented former NFL great Marvin Washington in a landmark appeal filed with the U.S. Supreme Court to demand that federal government decriminalize cannabis because of medicinal values.
