Iowa City residents will have the opportunity to learn about the progress and recommendations of the Recreation Facilities and Programs Master Plan and to offer feedback during two open houses on Monday, May 23, 2022.
Based on input received from the master plan’s various community engagement methods, the open houses will convey recommendations from the study and share initial renderings regarding potential City Park Pool and Mercer Park Aquatic Center design.
Mercer Park Aquatic Center event
Staff will host an open house at Mercer Park Aquatic Center in the P&G Room from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The address is 2701 Bradford Drive.
Robert A. Lee Community Recreation Center event
A second open house event will be held at the Robert A. Lee Community Recreation Center in the Social Hall from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. The address is 220 South Gilbert St.
Both open houses will feature the same information. A brief presentation from the project’s consulting team will be provided at the start of each open house. Department staff will be on hand to gather public feedback.
The public is also invited to visit the project’s website, established to provide opportunities for comment through a virtual format. The website will feature similar content to that of the open houses and will be available for public viewing from May 21 through June 4, 2022. Visit the website to learn more.
